She knows as much as what her adopted father, Kouto Arami, has told her, and she has never questioned him. She was born in Hanoi, he said, the infant quickly put up for adoption, her parents no doubt poor workers who could barely afford their other three children. A couple months later, a "couple" showed interest in the baby girl and, one month after that, Anna was on a plane to Tokyo with her new father. [break][break] From as far back as she could remember, Anna always felt different. Her brothers endured many hardships throughout their school years, but she had not. Anna had blended in easily enough everywhere she went; the girl never stood out in a crowd. At home, she kept to herself. As the youngest of her siblings, she learned all of life's little niches through her brothers. While they forged their own paths through said life, she followed after them at a quick pace. [break][break] Anna did not make many friends. While the bullying never reached her, her brothers' reputations far preceded her's. So many students avoided her, too scared to be seen with one of the Kouto kids. She ate lunch alone, she did her school chores alone, and during club she painted alone. Her only source of freedom was her art, the soft lines and brushstrokes set in motion by her delicate hand. The sensation of drawing melted away her fears and insecurities and, through her paintings, Anna finally had her own voice. She entered her paintings and pictures into many art contests and magazines, and quite a few of them won 'Best in Show' and were published. [break][break] Around middle school, Anna got into video games. She preferred indie games and rpgs, their stories encapsulating her for hours on end. When her father announced his company's step into the virtual reality market, Anna assisted him with alpha and beta testing. She did not see the appeal of the product, its next gen controls taking the spotlight over any semblance of a good story. She appreciated the Disney elements, and stuck with her family through the project until it was finally finished. [break][break] A month or so after she turned 17, the game was released. On its first day out in the market, Anna created her character and logged in. Unfortunately for her, she was one of the many people unable to leave the virtual prison. |
