Shiki's life and upbringing have been, in a word, average. She was born in the bustling city district of Shibuya to a middle-class family. Her parents were quite hardworking, having little time to spend with their daughter due to their arduous jobs. Because of this, Shiki became quite independent. She entertained herself out of school hours exploring Shibuya, taking in its vibrant fashion culture. She aspired to become a fashion designed one day and began to sew and design her own clothes. Shiki met her best friend, Eri, on one of her adventures in the city. Shiki inadvertently stumbled upon an alley where the city's influential yakuza were engaged in an organized crime scheme. Just as she was about to be discovered and surely killed off for being a witness, Shiki was pulled out of the yakuza's view by a miraculous stroke of luck - a strange girl had quickly pulled her out of sight. The stranger scolded Shiki on the dangers of wandering off alone in the seedier corners of Shibuya, but all the ditzy girl could focus on is how pretty and stylish Eri was. [break]

Two years after this incident, Shiki and Eri remain close friends. Shiki is entering her first semester at fashion school while Eri is starting a career as a model. Although she would never admit it, Shiki is very jealous of her friend. She's taken an interest in free-form RPGs as they let her be and do whatever she wants without limitations. Opening up her VR headset and Kingdom Hearts Online game in her dorm room, Shiki was highly excited. She designed her character to look just like her friend - maybe they could play together, she thought, whenever Eri wasn't busy with modeling. Unfortunately, Shiki is one of many who has been stuck in the game, with no idea as to how or when she will get out and see her best friend again... [break]
